The cost of a hair transplant in Houston depends on how many grafts you need and who is doing the transplant. The price ranges from three dollars up to ten dollars per graft, and the number of grafts required can range from 500 up to 3000. A transplant using five hundred grafts is considered really small, and is typically used to fill in the corners, or to add a little bit at the hairline or even just a little bit of the crown. The average number of grafts used in a transplant is between 1000 and 2000. Three thousand to 3500 grafts is the most we do at a time and is what we call a mega session.
Costs can vary between hair graft surgeons depending on the experience of the surgeon and the volume of customers. While price may be a factor, it’s important to consider expertise and patient satisfaction.
Does hair restoration really work?
Yes, hair restoration really does work. There are a lot of alternative things you can do for hair health and growth, from shampoos to pills to serum’s to all kinds of stuff, and they all work to varying degrees. However, hair transplantation has the most dramatic result since we are literally taking the hair from an area of your head that has healthy hair growth, such as the back or sides of your head, and putting it where you want it. So as long as that hair continues to grow, you will have hair where you place it.
The thing to think about, though, is that hair loss is an ongoing issue. While those grafts may continue to live, you may continue to lose the hair around them. For that reason, you may need future hair restorations. It’s an ongoing process such as other treatlike use like Propecia or Rogaine.
How many hairs are in each graft?
The number of hairs in each graft really depends on your scalp. When we talk about a graft, we are referring to one follicle that we’re moving from one place to another. Typically, there are between one to four hairs per graft, but I’ve also seen five or six hairs in each graft. It all depends on the density of your hair. If you have just one hair in a follicle, then you’re moving one hair. If you have four, then you’re moving four.
If you have really thick, dense hair in the back and on the sides of your head, that’s great because you’re getting more from each transplanted follicle. If your hair is on the thinner side, it may be harder to get the density that you’re looking for in the transplanted area. Another thing that can affect the appearance in the transplanted area is your hair and skin color. Those with hair and skin colors that are light and blend well together, such as thin, fine blond or gray hair with light skin, are easier patients to give the appearance of a fuller transplant than those with very dark hair and light skin where you can easily see each transplanted follicle.
As you can see, there are a lot of different considerations that go into the number of grafts needed for a full result.
How much do two hair grafts cost?
The cost of two hair grafts depends on your hair transplant surgeon and can vary widely, ranging anywhere from three dollars to ten dollars per graft. It’s important to look at the other factors mentioned above, such as far as surgeon experience and patient satisfaction before making your decision.
Is hair transplant painful?
No. We give you medications to make you comfortable and relaxed while we numb all of the areas on your scalp. After that, you don’t feel anything while you enjoy watching Netflix or movies on our big TV while we’re doing your hair restoration.
